Finding your iPhone with an app

Mobile phone are becoming smaller as the days are progressing, keeping track of it is very difficult. If you have an iPhone and somehow lost it somewhere you will surely be worried as it is very costly piece of hardware. But in this era there is solution for every problem and this same rule is applied to the lost iPhone. Find My iPhone is such an app using which you can track your iPhone. To keep track of the iPhone you need to login in your iCloud account from where you can track the movement of the phone. You can also use this app for iPad.  Let’s see how to use the Apple’s Find My iPhone app from your iPhone.

Where to find:

You can easily find this app on the Apple store. You must have an iCloud account or Mobile account to use this app. From iOS device you can manage the lost iPhone. If you don’t know about the iCloud service provided by Apple it is recommended to look at it before using it.

Using this app:

To use this app you need to enable the Find My iPhone app from your iCloud account. So to login or signup go to the settings section. From the settings section go to the iCloud, also verify that this is enabled as the default nature of this app is disabled.

To find the location of the lost iPhone feature is provided and it needs to be enabled. To do that, go to the Settings section and click on the Location services and select the on option.

To enable the app go to the bottom of the list of installed app to find the app. Click on it to start the enabling process.

You also need to set it in the iOS device, here Mac is used. You need to verify that you have latest version of the Apple or you fulfill the minimum requirements which are iOS 5 or OS X Lion v10.7.2. MobileMe users also need to verify that they have iOS 3.1.3 or higher version. From the iCloud control panel you can mange it.

iPhone is lost:

If somehow you have lost your iPhone account the first step is to open the Find My iPhone app from any device. Mac user needs to login into their iCloud account, for any other devices you need to install it before using it.

After this process you will see a list of devices which are registered in the iCloud account. Click on the registered iPhone device after it has been located by the application. A map view will be displayed on the screen which helps in finding the iPhone. From the “i” open a menu will pop-up from where you need to specify 3 actions. The actions are Play Sound or Send Message, Remote Lock, and Remote Wipe. From the Play Sound or Send Message option, you can send lost or stolen message or play sound on iPhone for 2 minutes even if the phone is in silent mode. From the Remote Lock you can lock the phone.
